Fun fact: My love for both pageantry and for the importance of education for young women led to numerous accolades throughout my career including having my community work being featured in the New York Times Best Seller, Broadcasting Happiness. After years of competing in pageants, I received my first official national title, Ms. American Elegance Woman - 2017 from The Ms. American Elegance Pageant.

Rashanah is a noted TV/ Radio journalist, community leader, and a housing advocate. Rashanah has worked to change the perception and negative news coverage of her neighborhood through the "Good in Englewood" media campaign. Rashanah’s weekly talk radio segment, "What's Good in Englewood", airs on WKKC 89.3 FM Tuesdays at 10:15 am CST entitled and writes for the news blog, www.GoodInEnglewood.com. Rashanah also serves her community by founding and leading the "Tea With A Queen" Girl Scout Troop.

Rashanah works to strengthen and stabilize the Greater Englewood community by increasing homeownership and improving the quality of life of Englewood residents with her role at Neighborhood Housing Services of Chicago.

Rashanah has been recognized as an industry thought leader across the city of Chicago. In 2014, she made the front cover of The Chicago Tribune for shinning a positive light on the greater Englewood community with the launch of the "Good In Englewood" media campaign.

Rashanah has been featured in many local documentaries and publications like the Chicago Tribune, PBS, and national news outlets like Huffington Post. She has worked for Chicago media outlets such as WBEZ 91.5 FM, WVON 1690 AM, WBBM 780 AM, CBS 2, NBC, and FOX Chicago News. She holds a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of Illinois-Chicago and an M.A. Degree in Journalism from DePaul University. Rashanah currently serves on The Reporter’s Inc board which is a nonprofit [501(c)(3)] journalistic production house.
